What Does a BMW ECU Remap Actually Do?

The ECU manages dozens of engine parameters — fuel injection timing, boost pressure, air-to-fuel ratio, throttle mapping, and more. In a standard BMW, these are set conservatively. A Stage 1 remap adjusts those parameters within the safe operating limits of the engine, specific to your variant and current specification.
