Stage 2 remap

For cars that already have supporting parts fitted. The calibration is written around those parts, so the engine can make use of them.

What a Stage 2 remap is

Once an engine can breathe better, with more air in and less restriction out, the standard software no longer matches the hardware. A Stage 2 remap is written around the parts that are actually fitted to your car.

That’s why we look at what’s fitted before anything is booked. A Stage 2 file on a car without the parts to support it isn’t right for the engine.

Supporting parts we usually see

  • Intake An upgraded air intake or filter, so the engine can draw in more air.
  • Intercooler A bigger or more efficient intercooler to keep the charge air cool.
  • Exhaust A freer-flowing exhaust or downpipe that keeps all emissions equipment in place.
  • Clutch On manual cars with a lot of extra torque, a clutch rated for it.

Every car is different, so send us a list of what has been fitted and we will tell you whether it is ready for Stage 2. Stage 2 on a road car never involves taking off the DPF, catalytic converter or other emissions parts.

Before we write a Stage 2

  • A full health check and fault scan
  • A look at the parts fitted, and who fitted them
  • A check that the clutch and gearbox can take the extra torque
  • Your car’s original software saved

If something isn’t ready, we’ll say so before any work is done.

How a Stage 2 remap works

Start to finish.

Send us the reg and the parts list

Message us on WhatsApp with the reg and everything that’s been changed on the car.

We check it suits Stage 2

We’ll tell you before booking if anything else is needed.

Health check

A fault scan and live data check on the day.

Original file saved

Your car’s original software is read and kept safe.

Stage 2 written

The calibration, written around your parts, goes on the car.

Checked on the road

A test drive with live data before we hand it back.

Can I go straight to Stage 2?

Only if the supporting parts are already fitted. On a standard car, Stage 1 is the right starting point.

Yes. Once the supporting parts are fitted, the car can be remapped again to suit them.

Not always. It depends on the car and how much extra torque it will make. We check it as part of the assessment.

It should not, as long as the emissions equipment stays fitted and working. We never remove emissions parts on a road car.

Remapping is legal in the UK. It counts as a modification, so you should tell your insurer.

We read and keep your car’s original file before writing anything, so it can be put back if you need it.
