Diagnostics and ECU repair

A warning light tells you something’s wrong, not what. We read the fault codes and the live data at your home or workplace, find the cause, and explain the fix before any work is done.

Engine management light

What it usually means
The engine computer has stored a fault. It could be a sensor, boost, fuelling or emissions problem, so the light on its own doesn't tell you which.
What we do
We read the fault codes and the live data to find the cause, then explain the fix before any work is done.

What we look at

  • Fault codes and live data We look at what the engine is actually doing, not just the code it’s stored.
  • Limp mode and power loss We find out why the engine cut its own power to protect itself.
  • Rough running and smoke Misfires, hesitation and smoke all leave clues in the live data.
  • Gearbox faults We read the gearbox control unit and tell you whether it’s a software job or a mechanical one.

ECU and module work

  • ECU programming Updating or reprogramming engine control unit software.
  • ECU repair Finding and fixing faults in the engine control unit, depending on the fault.
  • BCM repair and cloning Body control module faults, and moving data across to a replacement unit.
  • Module coding and programming Coding replacement modules so they work with the rest of the car.
  • Electrical fault finding Tracing electrical faults with the diagnostic tools and live data.
  • Instrument cluster repair Cluster faults, and setting a replacement cluster up for the car.

Can you just clear the light?

We can clear stored codes once the fault is fixed. Clearing a code without fixing the cause only means the light comes back.

Yes. Diagnostics are done at your home, workplace or yard across the West Midlands. We’re based in Willenhall.

Only once it’s healthy. A remap isn’t a fix for a fault, so the fault comes first.
